This is a rare species of Pulsatilla in Romania, which grows in small isolated populations on limestone massifs in the eastern and southern Apuseni Mountains, in Banat Mountains (also around the iron Gates) and in the forest-steppe area of Moldavia (going eastwards up to Ukraine).
